“At cambridge contemporary crafts we believe in championing the work of independent crafts people based all over the UK and are extremely proud to only exhibit handmade pieces”
We are an independent gallery in the centre of Cambridge and have been open since 2009. Before this, our founder Nathalie Staples had already gained a reputation in Cambridge for exhibiting quality artists at her gallery cambridge contemporary art. With wonderful submissions being made from artists all over the UK, and limited space in the gallery, Nathalie wanted to find another space to champion more work.
cambridge contemporary crafts was opened in a beautiful 16th century building on Bene't Street, just round the corner from Kings college and two doors down from the famous Eagle pub. We offer a warm and friendly space to browse the work of craftspeople where each piece on display has been created with care and passion. We sell the work of potters, printmakers, jewellers, illustrators, glassmakers, textile artists and sculptures.
We welcome visitors from all over the world and are really happy to answer questions about any of the artists and creative processes. We are passionate about connecting people with the arts and handmade pieces, this is why everyone who works in the gallery has a creative practice of their own and loves discussing the work we show.
You can find our sister gallery cambabridge contemporary art which has been open since 1990 and run by Nathalie since 2000 on Trinity street. Visit the website of our sister gallery, cambridge contemporary art, at www.cambridgegallery.co.uk
