Judy works in stoneware clay and uses the minimum of tools so that the term ‘handmade’ means just that – she enjoys responding to the feel and texture of the clay itself during the making process.  She uses coloured slip (liquid clay) to decorate each piece with her own designs, inspired by textiles and abstract art from the early to mid 20th century, while the forms themselves have echoes of Minoan and Cycladic votive objects.  She leaves the outside of the pieces unglazed to show the natural finish of the slips, allowing the clay to ‘speak for itself’ rather than covering it with glaze.

There are recurring colours and themes in her work, but each piece is a unique creation.

To care for the work; use a mat to protect polished or painted surfaces.  Handwash with care in warm water.  Rinse in clean water.  Air dry only.  Not for food, drink, or oven use.
