Vikki Lafford Garside
Vikki's love of folklore and nature, combined with a passion for art and textiles, led her to achieve a degree in Embroidery in 2002. Following the degree she worked as an embroidery designer, and in 2006 returned to education and gained an MA in Textile Design at Chelsea College of Art and Design. There Vikki created her first collection of dresses based on old versions of popular fairy tales.
Now designing and making under her label Liliia,Vikki is still inspired by the fairy tales, folklore and nature she appreciated as a child. She creates detailed, hand crafted bridal and evening wear and accessories. Vikki mixes traditional hand stitch and hand painting with digital techniques of stitch and print. Her work develops from initial drawings and studies and then passes through many processes of dye, print, stitch, cutwork and heat manipulation that focus on craft and attention to detail.
Vikki is a member of the Oxfordshire Craft Guild and West Oxfordshire Arts. As well as working to commission on bespoke projects and exhibiting throughout Oxfordshire and beyond she teaches for organisations and groups including the Embroiderers Guild, Denman College and Ardington School of Crafts.
