Sophie Harding grew up in Swanage, Dorset and was encouraged throughout her childhood to draw, paint and sew as both sides of her family were artistic. In 1992 Sophie graduated from Central St Martins having completed a BA Hons in Fashion and Textile Design. Sophie now works from home in a small but perfectly formed studio, which is 5 minute walk from the sea.
Sophie’s current work is inspired by living in Cornwall. She paints the Cornish landscape and coastal scenes with a naïve simplicity and charm from sketches, photos and imagination. Her more symbolic paintings are connected to the important things - family, love, wishes, truth and happiness. Things we can all identify with. She translates these ideas into applique pictures and painted pebbles.
