For Rose the creative process begins with a series of hand-drawn shapes. She deconstructs the architectural and natural forms which interest her to produce strong graphic designs with a softly feminine twist. She has found that working in silver gives her the greatest scope to explore these ideas successfully.
Rose gained a BA Hons in Jewellery at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College before returning to the Ribble Valley where she has a small workshop.
“My aim is to create jewellery with a playful feel that is a pleasure to wear and own. I find my inspiration in the things I love to collect, vintage fabrics, buttons and natural forms collected on walks near my home in the heart of the Lancashire countryside."
Her creative process always starts with a series of drawings. Rose finds this part particularly exciting; looking at form and line, deconstructing pattern and shape to create fluid, curvaceous designs that visually excite. Using copper, silver, vintage buttons and natural hemp combined with wooden charms that feature her intricate organic shapes, Sue likes to work in a very free way which allows her to develop multi-layered pieces. Each one is different; every one has it's own personality allowing the wearer to own something unique to them.
