After graduating with a BA in Italian in 1979 and several years living and working first in Italy then in Malawi, Anna Perring returned to London to take up a career in travel publishing. 10 years on, with the birth of her second child, she became self employed, publishing maps from home and this new found flexibility gave her the opportunity to pursue a lifelong passion for ceramics.
In 1996 she completed a City & Guilds, joined Albion Square Studio and began trying out different materials and techniques until, following a visit to Tuscany where she became entranced by the nightly dance of a thousand fireflies, she started to develop lighting ideas. In 2001 Anna began work on the first series of Luna Lights in press moulded stoneware and moved into Balls Pond Studio, regularly filling Kate Malone’s enormous kiln. Since then she has been working to extend the range of shapes, to include lights in slip-cast and most recently thrown porcelain. The Luna Minis, her delicately pierced tea lights, have now become the signature Luna range.
