Katy Mitchell is an Isle of Man-based potter, producing functional tableware intended to be used and embraced in daily life. Her wheel-thrown forms are illustrated with delicate and colourful designs inspired by the beauty (and oddity) of her island home. Each piece is decorated with a combination of hand-painting, inlay and custom decals, often being fired in the kiln three times.
Katy’s designs reflect life on the Isle of Man and fond childhood memories of the Island’s glens, whilst taking influences from Manx iconography, vintage souvenirs and the quintessential work of early 20th century ceramic designer Clarice Cliff.
