Jodie has twelve years experience designing and making individual handmade jewellery. The talented designer studied Jewellery and Silversmithing at UCE in Birmingham before going on to work for designer Scott Wilson in London for seven years. Here she created collections for trade shows including London Fashion Week and one off commission pieces for major fashion houses and celebrities including Julien MacDonald, Pringle, Frost French, Swarovski, Robbie Williams, Sugababes and Kylie.
Jodie then returned to Cardiff and in 2008 set up her own business. She said "After months of preparation, "I am absolutely thrilled to launch my first collection."
The Ribbon collection at Cambridge Contemporary Crafts is taken from moment you unravel a roll of satin ribbon, it twists and loops, as you lift it a knot forms. She manipulates the metal so it sits comfortably around the hand or body. The moment you unravel a roll of satin ribbon it twists and loops, as you lift it a knot forms.
I find great beauty, structure and simplicity in these shapes and this is what inspired me for this collection. Capturing these shapes in sterling silver wire and sheet, using traditional jewellery techniques, I manipulate the metal so it sits comfortably around the hand or body.
Alongside this collection, Jodie has designed and made a number of unique bespoke pieces for clients, which have been given as treasured gifts or marked special occasions including engagement and wedding rings. Jodie gets huge satisfaction from both the creative process and seeing the end result in people’s lives.
