Helen Chatterton is a designer/maker drawing on the traditions of the craft community. She believes that household objects should be beautiful in both a visual and a tactile sense.
Her scarves are made of velvet, tweed and velvet, or Silk and Tana Lawn. The silk velvet scarves have a fluid feel, they are made from rayon cross-dyed velvet. The inspiration for her work is the use of colour, often the juxtaposition of colours not usually put together. Texture and luxury are also themes.
Everything is made from start to finish by herself and it is her aim that whoever buys one has a one-off, hand crafted, well made item which will give pleasure for years to come. As well as being beautiful to look at they are immensely practical and hard wearing.
