Fern Scott is a Cambridge based filmmaker, story collector and paper sculptor. Her folded paper pieces are responses to our emotional attachments to places. These may be places we pass through fleetingly that stay with us or the places we consider part of us. Fern collects cast away maps and gives them new lives as folded paper collages. Each map has a story to tell, they might have worn sections, pencilled directions, or depict places that no longer exist. Obstructing the maps purpose by folding makes us want to look even more closely at the worlds contained within them.
