Saturday 16th September - Printing and Dyeing Aluminium with Caroline Parrott
Learn to print and dye pre-anodised aluminium! This session covers the basic principles of creating a successful print on aluminium then using this pattern as a resist, you will dye on top of it resulting in a vibrant and permanent finish that reveals your print to its full potential. Following a brief demonstration at the start of the session students will be able to spend the rest of the time experimenting with printing blocks including cutting their own, and using industrial anodising dyes and powder paints to enhance the surface of the metal. This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some knowledge of working with metal.
Students will be working with pre cut aluminium squares which will need to be sealed following the class, so you will be asked to return in a few days to pick up your artwork.
You can then use your pieces to create your own artwork, Caroline can give you advice on working with the metal at home or in your studio, or if you'd like Caroline to take them away and cut shapes for you then post them to you this can be planned individually at extra cost.
The workshop will run Saturday 16th September from 6-9pm at cambridge contemporary crafts, Bene't Street.
If you are interested in the class but can't make the date, please email us on firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 01223 361200 and we can let you know if Caroline plans another class.
