Brittany explores the translucent quality and fragile effects that can be produced through the use of porcelain. Taking shape and form as a starting point she creates functional vessels and tableware considering simplicity alongside complexity.
By modifying the traditional technique of slip casting and carving into the plaster moulds, the commonly concealed casting seams are exaggerated and become a main focus of the design. The making processes are emphasised and highly refined creating handmade work of a high quality.
Graduating from Nottingham Trent University with a BA (Hons) in Decorative Arts, Brittany was able to experiment with a variety of materials before specialising in ceramics. She now works from her studio based in Stockport, Cheshire selling her work across the country.
