To keep things bright and summery, we are setting up our next exhibition around the theme of a Summer Garden Party. Think vivid colours, flowers in full bloom, dainty butterflies and delicate crockery.
Alice Duck and Katie Almond both create lovely tableware that instantly captures the garden party feel. Their porcelain mugs, jugs and coasters are decorated with floral decals, fabric imprints or fine hand painted patterns. Perfect for your summer brunch or afternoon tea alfresco.
Also featuring in the exhibition will be work by printmakers Devi Singh and Angela Harding. Devi Singh’s hand coloured etchings depict elegant flowers and plants, cheerful birds and cute nesting boxes, always with a touch of colour. Angela Harding’s tea towels, inspired by the flora and fauna of the British countryside, make a great addition to any garden party table. They feature birds, hares and floral designs in bright colours.
Drawing inspiration from nature as well, textile artist Vikki Lafford creates colourful and meticulously detailed butterflies and dragonflies. Her work develops from initial drawings and studies and then passes through many processes of dye, print, stitch, cutwork and heat manipulation.
Ima Pico produces luxurious silk scarves, necklaces, bangles and brooches whose intense colours make them perfect accessories for the summer season. The designs have been digitally created from photographs of street art and publicity found in cities around the world.
This free exhibition runs from 11th July – 5th Aug 2015. We are open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5.30pm and Sunday from 11am to 5pm.
