Melanie Green

Melanie Green is an artist, illustrator, felt maker and fibre artist based in Scarborough, UK. She trained at Loughborough University in multimedia textile design and developed a love for pen and ink drawing there. She also specialised in embroidery but became addicted to felt making after several years of flirting with it.

Eventually the call of the felt became too much, and now Green creates her own felt menageries. The birds themselves are inspired by a lovely little woman called Beryl who lived upstairs from Green. She fed birds on her window sill and the seed used to patter down on to my porch. She collected feathers and said that they were signs from the angels... She made her first bird for Beryl.

Now Melanie makes birds of the wild, custom pet birds, and love birds for new people to celebrate what the feathery friends mean to them.

Prices range from: £18 - £30
