Layla Amber

Layla Amber Rous is in her 20s and graduated from Norwich University College of the Arts in 2010 with a BA honours in Graphic Design. It was during her time at Art School that Layla discovered a passion for illustration.

Layla was brought up in a very creative family with her Mother and Grandfather both being artists. At the age of 17 Layla had the opportunity to work for a local artist, and after university was offered a full time position in an art gallery that she holds to this day. Being surrounded by creativity, Layla was inspired to combine her illustrations with jewellery design.

Layla's objectives have always been simple, to create fun and wearable pieces of jewellery from her finely detailed illustrations. Layla works mainly in shrink plastic, a material that allows her illustrations to retain their intricacy and vibrancy in a miniature format.

The beautiful seaside town of Southwold in which Layla grew up has been a big source of inspiration for her work. Other inspirations include nature, wildlife and all things quintessentially British and miniature.
