Heather Mills

Heather Mills is a ceramicist working in Cape Town, South Africa. Her signature style is seen in her Classic White range. Everything is handmade from start to finish by Heather herself, and they are intended both as artworks to be enjoyed and practical objects to be used.

Heather's focus is on the tradition of hand thrown ceramics. This work is delicately and skilfully thrown on the wheel, using white stoneware clay. The pieces are coated with a white ceramic medium, and the sgraffito technique applied, which creates intricate, gentle and subtle carvings. Texture is introduced by applying pearl like protrusions on the surface of the clay.

Her classic white signature style with its simple, elegant forms and highly ornate decoration is distinctive. Integrity, attention to detail and quality are essential components in her methodology. Heather's finely crafted pieces are intended for use and aspire to be enjoyed.
