Clare Nicholls

Having studied english, fine art and ceramics, my sculptural work demonstrates a leaning towards narrative and lettering. My background in drawing and painting has been hugely influential.

I work in porcelain and aim to create pieces which have beauty and character as well as the unique quality of something handmade and individual.

My subject matter is more often than not related to nature, animals, the human condition and the British ceramic tradition of storytelling.

Colouration can range between subtle muted monotones through to bright lustres, primary and pastel colours which work with the detailed surface drawing and intricate making techniques.
